ABOUT SYMPOSIUM

"Collective wisdom is shared knowledge arrived at
by
individuals and groups,
used to solve problems and conflicts of all humanity."
Wikipedia
(A.K.A., The greatest collection of wisdom in the history of humankind)
With a few notable exceptions—the Spanish Inquisition; Tulip Mania; assuming the world was flat for several thousand years—groups of people know more things about more things than individuals do. The individuals that comprise a group of, say, a dozen people have enough stories, insights, and opinions to fill an entertaining evening...if everyone is ready to listen.
SYMPOSIUM is a fully improvised show that is equal parts staged performance and dialogue with audience members — which is to say, a conversation. Starting from prompts as simple as the day's edition of the newspaper, something that happens just before showtime, or even nothing at all, SYMPOSIUM'S cast engages the audience in conversation, shedding light on issues great (What could the term "post-racial" possibly mean?) and small (Why don't all restaurants offer free refills?).
Every show is different because every audience is different. Join us, and help us uncover a bit more collective wisdom each night.
